Job Title: Controller
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Overview: The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of an organization. The Controller ensures that all financial statements are accurate, complete, and comply with regulatory requirements. The Controller also manages the financial reporting and analysis functions, and ensures that financial policies and procedures are in place and followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and ensure that they are accurate, complete, and comply with regulatory requirements
- Manage the financial reporting and analysis functions, and ensure that all reports are completed on time and to the required standard
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
- Manage the financial planning and budgeting process, and ensure that the organization's financial resources are used efficiently and effectively
- Monitor and evaluate the organization's financial performance, and make recommendations for improvements
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial institutions
- Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner, and that appropriate controls are in place to prevent fraud and error
- Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information
- Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, and ensure that all payments are made on time and that all receivables are collected in a timely manner
- Manage and mentor the finance team, and ensure that all staff are trained and developed to their full potential
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred
- 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting, and financial analysis
- Experience with financial planning and budgeting, financial systems, and internal controls
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Physical Requirements: The Controller is expected to work in an office environment and will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The Controller may also be required to travel occasionally for business purposes.
