Job Title: Organizer
Reports to: Campaign Manager or Senior Organizer
Job Overview: The Organizer is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with community members, organizing events and actions, and mobilizing supporters to achieve the goals of a campaign or organization. The Organizer is a key member of the campaign or organization's team, and is responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, leaders, and organizations
- Identify, recruit, and train volunteers to support the goals of the campaign or organization
- Organize events, rallies, and actions to raise awareness and mobilize supporters
- Manage and supervise volunteers to ensure that they are effectively contributing to the campaign or organization's goals
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage and mobilize diverse communities
- Collect and maintain data related to voter contact, volunteer recruitment and training, and outreach activities
- Collaborate with other members of the campaign or organization's team to develop and implement campaign strategies
- Represent the campaign or organization at community events and meetings
- Use social media and other communication tools to engage and mobilize supporters
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and organizing strategies, and make recommendations for improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of experience in community organizing, political campaigning, or advocacy work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence
- Knowledge of organizing and outreach strategies, and experience using social media and other communication tools to engage and mobilize supporters
- Understanding of issues related to social justice, equity, and diversity
- Experience working with volunteers, and the ability to train and supervise others
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by the campaign or organization
Physical Requirements: The Organizer is expected to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, community spaces, and outdoor venues. The Organizer may be required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and may be required to lift and carry equipment or materials as necessary. The Organizer may also be required to travel frequently, depending on the specific requirements of the campaign or organization.
